Hello everyone I am Mrs. Cosgrove and I am one of the high schools math teacher, as well as the chair of the Math Department here at MMSA. I specifically teach Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Business Math. I was born and raised in a small town in Wisconsin. I moved to Minnesota after college. I attended UW-River Falls and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Teaching. I have wanted to be a teacher since Elementary school. I always enjoyed being in school and had some really good teachers. When I got to high school, I realized I had an aptitude in math and really enjoyed it. This led me to want to become a math teacher. My favorite part of being a teacher is watching my students grow and learn. I have been able to see students become more confident in the area of math and get excited when they learn something new. This year I look forward to being back in person and building and strengthening relationships with students. Teaching to a screen is hard and it will be nice to have more interaction and engagement with students. As a part of the MMSA family I like the sense of community we have here as a small school. Working in big districts doesn’t allow for the same type of relationships with the students and parents that we are able to build here. Every day brings a new challenge and it keeps life interesting and makes me want to come back every day.
